MY TIME – Sponsored Swim

“A BIG BIG THANK YOU” to everyone that took part in the club sponsored swim on Thursday 26th November 2015. What a fantastic effort made by everyone (young and old), in total we managed  746 lengths in the first session and early indications show that the amount pledged is just over £550 for the charity My TIME and hopefully this might still rise as not all amounts are in yet.

This year the club chose the charity My TIMEas the recipients of the sponsorship money raised by our members, after the sad loss of our club president John Howes MBE, who was a great supporter of this wonderful charity for a very long time.

Members swam in teams of 5 in relay format for 55 minutes. All team members received a medal to show their participation. In the junior session the team that swam the most laps (67) TEAM – STARFISH was presented with the coveted Sponsored Swim Trophy. This was presented to Team Captain Kiera Johnson by Jo Barker Executive Director MY TIME.

In the senior session, there was a good effort by one of teams to beat the record of 75 laps set in 2013, they missed out by just 2 laps, so disappointment for them but a true grit attempt none the less.

“SO WELL DONE EVERYONE – YOU DESERVE TO BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELVES  – AS WE ARE OF YOU!”.

Finally a huge thanks to Simon and Lara Moore for organising yet another successful sponsored swim on behalf of RLSS Poole Lifeguard.

About MyTime

MyTime-SocialLogoMyTime’s vision is for every young person that comes into contact with us to have the opportunity to develop in confidence with the help of activities, space and time to be themselves.

Since the 1980’s we have been working to enhance the lives of young people by providing respite breaks at our residential facility in the beautiful rural Purbeck surroundings. We give young carers a break from demanding and stressful responsibilities at home and provide a safe, nurturing environment where young people at risk can develop their full potential.

Each year, we cater for many young people from the South and South East of England. We aim to eventually extend our services to other areas of the UK. We must raise around £300,000 each year to provide our services, for which we receive no direct government funding.
