Dear Club Member

WOW what a busy summer we have had!. OK, so the weather has not been too great, but we have had some great times as you can see from the articles shown below, but first....

Some things to look forward to over the winter months:

RLSS-UK National Life Saving Championships

31st October 2015

• Our very own Sam Harrison and George Kennedy competing in the RLSS-UK National Life Saving Championships on 31st October in Sheffield.

• Unfortunately our Girls pairing of Sophie Torok and Emma Marjason can no longer compete in this competition having qualified at the same time as Sam and George, due to a date clash and Emma being out of the country.

• We are hoping that Sophie will still travel to Sheffield and be the boys team captain so at least she can be  part of it.

Club Sponsored Swim

26th Nov 2015

• As normal the annual club sponsored swim will take place during November 2015.

• As has become tradition over the last couple of years the club will choose another charity for the proceeds to go towards, as it is our way of helping other clubs/ organisations..

• This year the Club has decided that the proceeds will go towards the Charity "MYTIME" which our late President John Howes MBE was a staunch supporter of and his daughter Becs Turner is a Trustee. Also, because John’s granddaughter Izzie is a member of our Rookies, it was an obvious choice for us this year. So please give generously when the forms come round.

• Further details about the charity can be located here  http://www.mytimecharity.co.uk/index.htm

RLSS PLG 2016 Internal Club Competition

Thursday 28th Jan and 04th Feb 2016.

• Another great fun event for all the club to get involved.

• To engage all members of our Club, in a test of knowledge, skills and sport.

• It is open to all members, and each competitor will be competing against his or her peers.

• At the end, an overall Club champion will be crowned.

PBCLSA 2016 Indoor Twilight Series

Poole to Host 18th Feb 2016

• The PBCLSA Indoor Twilights 2016 series will get off to a great start in January 2016. As always there are 3 Twilights in the Indoor Series and RLSS Poole will be looking to host another one during the 2016 Series.

• Dates are yet to be set, but we will let you know as soon as we know anything.

• The sporting competition helps promote lifesavers’ skills, knowledge and techniques and also plays an important role in spreading the RLSS UK’s water safety messages as the drowning prevention charity.

• Events include the manikin carry, line throw and obstacle, with both individuals and teams competing.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of our former President John Howes MBE. John was a strong supporter of the club from its very early years and became our club President in 1992. A post for which he held office, until last year, when he stood down due to ill health.   Our …

Brownsea Swim 2015

Once again, another truly wonderful Brownsea Island Swim, the weather held up beautifully and the wind against tide made for an extremely tough swim on the back half of the island, right into the finish funnel. It was certainly a much talked about topic by the swimmers on the finish line whilst getting their breath back and recovering. No one …
